| If you thought Tower of Heaven was tough, you ain't seen nothing yet! |
Who made it?: Like the last game, this game was made by the Porcelain Fortress. Unlike the last game, this one can be played on non-Vivaldi browsers or downloaded off of Steam.
Story: This game picks up where the last game ended. Vivaldia has somehow been teleported to a valley populated with dinosaurs and giant carnivorous plants and she has to save it from the robot menace.
Presentation: Just like it's predecessor, this game features a neat retro style that resembles an old SNES or Sega Genesis game. The music is also pretty cool and unlike the last game, there's more than one track this time around.
How to play: The arrow or wasd keys are used to move, go up and down vines and climbable surfaces, crouch and go through doors. Spacebar, C and M jump. N or Z fires Vivaldia's weapon. Enter pauses. This game also features gamepad support and touch controls for phones and tablets. I personally think the controls are a bit loose where jumping is concerned (either that or I just might suck at platformers) but otherwise the game controls really well.
Gameplay: This plays a lot like the last game, except here your not constantly moving right. Along with completing each level, you also have the side quest of collecting oversized floppy discs that float around each level. The game has some annoying hazards to it, including spikes that only show themselves when you step on them and several enemies that you can't kill, including some that attack from above. It starts out moderately hard, but it quickly becomes very difficult. The last five levels will especially test you, featuring Mega Man style disappearing blocks over bottomless pits, small platforms covered in electrical charges, moving platforms one wires that try to drop you when they hit specific parts and narrow hallways filled with enemies. Fortunately, there are hearts, extra lives (in challenge mode) and checkpoints along the way. All this makes for a really difficult, but really rewarding game to beat.
Final Verdict: As frustrating as this game is, it's still a really well-made and fun game that'll keep you coming back for more. Just be prepared to lock in, because this one's a toughie.
